Fake News about the rapture

Dr Mike Johnston

Deceivers are a coagulation of corruption gathering everywhere. Most recognizable and insidious is the lying liberal media hiding behind the First Amendment directed by a cabal of deviants committed to propagating a godless political agenda based on Leviticus 18 values using intimidation and prevarication as their stock in trade to get there. Its deserved title is fake news and more and more American’s like fiddle man Charlie Daniel’s are recognizing it and speaking out against it: “The news is not about news anymore. It’s about protecting some people, destroying others and shoving a socialist agenda down the collective throats of America.”

In all honesty, when the term fake news began appearing in the 2016 presidential election, I wasn’t that surprised. Several years ago, I heard Rush Limbaugh explain the phenomenon to a dismayed caller concerned about the puzzling effectiveness of despicable defamations marshaled against innocent people while casting truth to the wind,

“The evidence is irrelevant; it’s the seriousness of the charge that matters.”

Since the seriousness of an accusation now takes precedence over its truthfulness, by default it enforces it. This not only empowers deceivers with a ready tool for destruction, it renders a defense impossible for honest men. To wit, Mark Twain was correct in lamenting, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.”

Mr. Twain’s axiom is the essence of this chapter highlighting its predictable expectation. For all who think it could never happen to us, it not only can, it already has. A shocking fake news story infiltrated the church some 40 years ago, lacking reliable evidence to support it and yet was believed and ballyhooed simply because of the seriousness of the charge …

“The PreTrib Rapture is a Giant Hoax
that didn’t exist until 1830”

Considering the incalculable number of Christians holding forth the PreTrib rapture as the “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13), this is a very serious allegation. I know because I witnessed its damage first hand. However, while I was for a period deceived by this, over time I began spotting inconsistencies in the argument warranting a closer investigation, which ultimately produced the following summary observation:

This 1830 rapture origin allegation is itself a recently concocted giant hoax.

I discovered it originated with a disgruntled and delusional rapture-loathing reporter named Dave MacPherson (DM). I use the word delusional cautiously but purposely. While DM has every right to his opinion. He does not however have the right to invent his own facts when stating it. That isn’t scholarship. It’s scandalous. How his conscience allows him to get away with this is I’m afraid a testimony to Paul’s warning: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron” (1 Timothy 4:1-2).

Sodomy, abortion, Islam- Harbingers of the woes to come

Isa 5:20-23 warns: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (21) Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! (22) Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: (23) Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Revelation describes the entire tribulation period (aka time of Jacob’s trouble – Jer 30:7) predicated upon woe (Rev 8:13) and bringing about international judgment for rejecting Christ and mistreating the Jews and their Covenant land of Israel (God gave the land of Canaan to the Jews: Gen. 12:7, 13:14-15; 15:18; 17:8; Lev. 26:33, 43; Deut. 26:9; 30:1-11; Josh. 24:20-28; 2 Sam. 7:11-16; Ezra 4:1-3; Psalm 102:13-20; Isa. 11:11-12; 18:7; 27:12-13; 29:1, 8; 44; 60:8-21; 66:18-22; Jer. 3:17-18; 7:7; 11:10-11; 23:3-6; 25:5; 29:14; 30:7, 10; 31:2, 10, 23, 31-34; 33:4-16; 50:19; Ezek. 11:17; 20:33-37; 22:19-22; 28:25; 36:23-24, 38; 37:21-22; 39:28; Dan. 12:1; Hosea 3:4-5; Joel 3:20-21; Amos 9:9, 14-15; Micah 2:12; 3:9-10; 4:7, 11-12; Zeph. 2:1-3; Zech. 7:7-8; 8:1-8; 10:6-12; 12:2-10; 13:8-9; 14:1, 5, 9; Mal. 3:6).

While I believe the church will be gone during this 7 year tribulation, I believe the Antichrist- at least typified in O’bama- has dragged America down to new levels of debauchery by assisting in the inexplicable reversing of the perception of sodomy, abortion, and of course Islam. I believe these are without question the harbingers of the Revelation 8:13 woes that are beginning to appear everywhere.

After I read Christianity under attack by Bill Wilson, I knew it needed to be shared.

Whether it is “hands up, don’t shoot,” Bowe Bergdhal served with “honor and distinction,” or the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, it seems that the American people are all too willing to listen to the hysteria of a biased news media and special interest groups rather than check out the facts. Property has been lost, lives ended, and reputations harmed because an ill-informed public allows lies and misinformation to lead them by the nose to the slaughter house. “Who cares,” they might say, “It doesn’t affect me.” There is one issue, however, where if we as Christians don’t start standing strong and speaking boldly as we ought to speak, it will impact generations. Our religious freedom is under attack.

When the Founding Fathers of America wrote the Constitution, there was one God in mind–the God of the Jews and Christians. This is what they meant in guaranteeing religious freedom. Much has been written in their own words about Christianity; about being from many walks of life, but generally having the same religion; that God granted us a nation and that it was our duty to elect Christians to serve wisely. Our Republic was modeled after Exodus 18:21, “Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be be rules of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.”

In fact, Islam at that time, was considered a strange and evil cult. John Quincy Adams wrote: “In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth.” Thomas Jefferson had to commission a US Navy to fight the Ottoman Empire-sanctioned pirating of US ships and the enslavement of US citizens by the Islamic Barbary pirates. Yet the current “president” infers Islam’s influence on early America was a positive one.

Your religious freedom, the very keystone of your rights as an American, are under vicious attack. An Islamic Marxist “president,” his administration, the news media, the homosexual lobby, the abortion lobby, the Islamists are all pointing the spear at your religious freedom because they know that faith in the one true God is the only bulwark that stands between liberty and their statist goals. No one checks the facts, but it is always assumed the Christian or Jew is at fault. Christianity is not about what God can do for you, it is what we are supposed to be doing for God. When so many are wringing their hands and asking what to do, God has already told us–make disciples, overcome evil with good, speak boldly of the gospel, having done all, stand. Don’t wait for a leader. The leader is Jesus Christ and he dwells in you. Let’s go!
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Backsliders BEWARE- The Casket is Coming for YOU!

Dr. Mike Johnston

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways (Proverbs 14:14).

If you are a child of God trying to live in sin, you are miserable. I know! Your testimony has been compromised, your joy is gone, and you struggle every day with gnawing feelings that God is not pleased.

And you are right.

David summed it up for us: For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me (Psalms 38:2-4).

Sin: Doing Wrong or Not Doing Right

When we come to Christ in repentant faith, the Holy Spirit is given to us as an eternal seal (Eph. 4:30) who abides with us and in us forever (John 14:16-17) and who guides us into all God’s truth (John 16:13). Since He inspired every Word of the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16-17), those who disobey it are disobeying God which always produces dire consequences:

Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God (Deuteronomy 11:26-28).

Disobeying God is called sin and it manifests itself in one of two ways: doing things He shows us we shouldn’t do (sins of commission) that grieve Him (Eph. 4:30) and not doing things we should do (sins of omission) that quench Him (1 Thess. 5:19). Sin begins through a gateway that quickly takes on a life of its own, moving from a toehold to a stronghold. In time, it betrays its promise of excitement through the pangs of entrapment where it slowly and methodically tightens its grip around us:

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins (Proverbs 5:22). Though pleasurable for a moment, sin always carries with it long term implications that are never good. Not only can you be sure your sin will find you out (Num. 32:23), but the soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).

The 4 Cs of God’s Restoration Process

Let’s be clear. We are all sinners who have fallen short of God’s expectations (Rom. 3:23). The problem is that some choose to remain there which is the wrong place for a child of God to be. God desires that we be restored to Him as expediently as possible: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth (Hebrews 12:6).

The following 4 steps are outlined from my experience with God as He chasteneth and scourgeth His wayward children (I’ve also seen Him use this process to reach the unsaved, too). The process always begins with inner conviction which if ignored will ultimately lead to a casket more often than not. While His mode and method for each step will vary along with the length of time between them, one thing will never change: the severity of punishment at every level always intensifies according to the depth of depravity the backslider has sunk in to. Make no mistake, He is a jealous God (Ex. 34:14) with one thing on His mind– YOU!

STEP 1: Conviction

A conviction is the declaration of guilt. God the Holy Spirit works with our conscience (John 8:9; Rom. 2:15; 9:1; etc) to bring a conviction of guilt against us when we have sinned against Him (John 16:8). He tells us it’s wrong, that it isn’t pleasing to Him, and that we need to confess our sin and return to Him now (Psa. 32:5; 1 John 1:9). If we will not listen, He turns up the heat.

STEP 2: Crisis

If you continue to ignore His gentle nudging, He will take you from inner conviction to an outer crisis; something severe but still escapable. For instance, I have seen drunkards begin piling up DUIs with mounting legal fees, car accidents, job losses, short stints in jail, and other associated mishaps. For others it might be different. I’ll never forget what happened to a man I used to pray with and counsel who continually fell back into a lifestyle of drunkenness. Tickets, accidents, marital problems and wayward children weren’t enough to change his heart. However, when he received a chilling doctor’s report about a spot on his lung he listened. A biopsy was quickly scheduled and a renewed vow to sobriety followed. We rejoiced when the report came back negative, knowing God had mercy on him. But he never changed. It didn’t surprise me when his health deteriorated and he died a short while later.

STEP 3: Catastrophe

A crisis is an unsettling yet escapable event; a catastrophe is a severe crisis that is irreversible like a divorce, incarceration, or a debilitating  disease. If a crisis is like a gentle shake, a catastrophe is like a giant earthquake: drastic, dreadful, and devastating.

For years my brother and his wife shared Christ’s transforming forgiveness with a sibling who proudly justified his homosexual lifestyle. Nothing from Scripture interested him, so they loved him and prayed for him every day he lived his life in defiance to God’s moral guidelines.

One day their prayers were answered in an unexpected way when he returned home and told his family he had AIDS. With nothing behind him but shameful memories and nothing in front him but certain death, he felt lost and hopeless and willing to listen. When a family friend explained God’s plan of salvation to him he no longer viewed it as a restriction, but as a rescue and he grabbed it with both hands. When he died a short time later, what many had feared would be a tragic sadness had now become a triumphant celebration. For this irreversible catastrophe was used by God to change the perception of a hopelessly diseased, hell-bound sinner, into that of a repentant born again child of God who in his final days found mercy and love in the arms of Jesus who promised:

Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out (John 6:37).

STEP 4: Casket

As you have seen, when conviction, crises, and catastrophes are blatantly ignored, God can and often does move to the casket  (1 Cor. 11:29-31; 1 John 5:16). Sometimes it happens rather abruptly, sometimes over the course of several years. At least that’s what happened to my friend “Bill.” He was a drunk who always drove. I met him and led him to Christ while he was hospitalized after a near fatal alcohol related automobile accident. Though he was in the prime of his life, they didn’t expect him to live. But God was gracious and brought him through miraculously. Bill was sober for the first time in years and as excited about his Christian faith as anyone I’d ever seen. He studied the Scriptures fervently and witnessed to all who would listen with a wide and endearing smile. His family even began attending church with him. What a testimony he had.

Then it happened.

Little by little his attendance faded into a memory and our visits chilled for reasons unknown. When I learned he had crawled back into his old life, my heart broke. I tried restoring him again, but to no avail. He wasn’t interested.

This morning’s paper carried his obituary. As is always the case, it extolled his life’s accomplishments, associations, family and many friends– but absolutely nothing about Jesus. As I continued reading and lamenting his tragic ending, the bomb dropped. The farewell memorial for this man who had not yet turned fifty was being conducted in his hallowed hangout: not in a church, but in his favorite bar. How sad that liquor, not the Lord, became the ultimate god that he loved, served, and eventually died supporting.

Are You Ready to Die?

At some point in time, we will all get exactly what we’ve earned. Scripture warns: the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). You might wonder if I’m trying to scare you by asking if you’re ready to die, and my answer is simple: YES I am! I believe you are worth scaring if that’s what it takes to keep you from Hell, Satan, or dying in your sin.

The Bible says: And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh (Jude 1:22-23).

My friend, God loves you more than life itself. Jesus proved that when He shed His precious blood at Calvary (1 Cor. 15:1-4). But unconfessed sin scorns His sacrifice, and spits in His face (Heb. 6:6). How can a Holy God disregard that?

He can’t! Please hear me.

If you’re a backslidden Christian trying to ignore the Holy Spirit’s inner warnings about your sin, you need to know . . .

The Casket is Coming for You!

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1).

Every story in this tract is about a real person with one or more things in common with you. They had families that loved them, friends who miss them and a chance to repent before they died.

One man listened, the rest did not.

Proverbs tells us that fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour (Proverbs 14:9).

Which will you be my friend?
